Oxidative stress and protection against it in bacteria

چکیده
Microorganisms are exposed to reactive oxygen species (ROS) that formed in various ways, particular, as a result of respiration or other intracellular processes, during metal-catalyzed Fenton reactions, the action UV- and X-radiation, under influence some antimicrobial drugs, host immune oxidative-burst response against infection agents. In this review, we take look at mechanisms microbial cell damage, including damage lipids proteins. Lipid peroxidation (LPO) is one main molecular involved oxidative cellular structures. A variety products LPO reactions: alkoxyl radicals, peroxyl hydroperoxides, diene conjugates, carbonyl compounds, aldehyde adducts with biopolymers, alcohols, esters, etc. These include cytotoxic highly compounds. Free radical reactions protein occur via hydrogen atom abstraction from α-carbon SH-, NH2-groups aminoacids electron nucleophile centers proteins resulting fragmentation proteins, their denaturation formation amino acid radicals. Bacteria show significant adaptive potential stress agents, ROS. We summarized data on bacterial antioxidant protection, ROS redox sensors, regulators exposure, focusing features anaerobic microorganisms, responses least studied, many problems remain unsolved. This review contains information about changes fatty composition plasma membrane maintain necessary fluidity, and, thus, counteract effects stressing The modifications important for regulation fluidity described, degree lipid saturation, cis/trans isomerization, synthesis cyclopropane acids.

Protein mistranslation protects bacteria against oxidative stress
Accurate flow of genetic information from DNA to protein requires faithful translation. An increased level of translational errors (mistranslation) has therefore been widely considered harmful to cells. Here we demonstrate that surprisingly, moderate levels of mistranslation indeed increase tolerance to oxidative stress in Escherichia coli. Our RNA sequencing analyses revealed that two antioxid...
متن کاملCreatine affords protection against glutamate-induced nitrosative and oxidative stress
Creatine has been reported to exert beneficial effects in several neurodegenerative diseases in which glutamatergic excitotoxicity and oxidative stress play an etiological role. The purpose of this study was to investigate the protective effects of creatine, as compared to the N-Methyl-d-Aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonist dizocilpine (MK-801), against glutamate or hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)-ind...
متن کاملDehydrins Impart Protection against Oxidative Stress in Transgenic Tobacco Plants
Environmental stresses generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) which might be detrimental to the plants when produced in an uncontrolled way. However, the plants ameliorate such stresses by synthesizing antioxidants and enzymes responsible for the dismutation of ROS. Additionally, the dehydrins were also able to protect the inactivation of the enzyme lactate dehydrogenase against hydroxyl radica...
متن کاملVitamin E provides protection against in vitro oxidative stress
Over the centuries, humans have developed many ingenious methods in their attempts to control herbs, weeds, insects, invertebrates and microorganisms that constantly threatened the supply of food and fibre as well as posed a threat to public health. The aim of present study was to find out the protective nature of antioxidant property of vitamin E in against chlorpyrifos and endosulfan toxicity...
